Extreme Sports

Nobody can deny that the newest crazes with kids are the extreme sports. The phenomenon has reached all the way down to kids as young as early elementary school. Is it a problem, or is it a blessing? Much of it depends on whom you ask, but a deeper look will shed a little bit of light on the entire matter.

Why Choose Extreme Sports

The TV in your living room is starting to collect dust and burn less electricity while the video game system sits in the corner doing the same. It is exactly what you may have wanted all along, but it does mean that your child is likely deep into the fun that is extreme sports. Don't let the name fool you, extreme sports can be used to describe a number of activities, but for your child, it is likely BMX biking, skateboarding, or trickblading (tricks on roller blades specially made for the job).

Trickblader

Essentially, a trickblader will use a special type of roller blades that have smaller thicker wheels, wider boots, and what is called a grind plate that allows them to slide across surfaces when so desired. The blades are made so that participants may perform many of the same tricks that skateboarders do, only now you will see them on roller blades, more or less.

BMX Bikers

BMX bikers are a different sport altogether. These are special bikes with pegs on the wheels for tricks, pads on the places where impact will most likely occur, and no front brakes. The bike is made for racing and tricks, but primarily to be used on dirt or certain types of urban setups.

Skateboarding

As for skateboarding, it is the sport probably most closely linked to extreme sports. For quite some time now, boarders have been hitting half pipes, grinding, and grabbing their board. Though you may associate the sport as a boy sport, many more girls are starting to get involved in these extreme sports and are having a great deal of success along the way.

Extreme Sports Advise

Go watch your kid working on his new extreme sports might just scare you. The first time you see your child "getting air" off of a ramp or pipe, you will be clinching with each landing. The important thing, though, is just to make sure they have the right equipment and they are as safe as with any other sport. In fact, one national safety organization performed a study and found that more injuries per participant occur in hockey, football, basketball, and soccer than in skateboarding. So you can breathe a little easier.

One important thing you can do is to make sure your child is wearing the right kind of safety equipment. Helmets, elbow pads, and kneepads are musts for the sake of safety. Most skate parks, in fact, will require kids to wear such protection before they are allowed to ride on the property. Falls are a part of the sport, but with proper protection your child will be in no more danger than on the football field or basketball court.

One problem that extreme sport kids have is finding a place to practice their new love. Many parks no longer allow extreme sports in the area, but the children need places to jump, grind, and try out new tricks. One solution that many cities have adopted is to erect extreme sport skate parks. In these facilities, ramps, half pipes, and even stairs and rails are provided so that kids can jump, grind, and get air all they want in an area free of traffic and pedestrians. This makes it safer, and in many ways more fun for the kids overall.

Summary

Future of Extreme sports are the wave of the future. Though you may not always understand these new sports your kids are into, they are still active and healthy sports. Competition is alive, but they may be perfected without 9 others or even one other kid around. A trip to the skate park alone can end in the perfection of new trick or technique. The idea is to just support your kids and allow them to compete how they want to. Get them the right safety gear and the right facilities and before you know it you may just have a world -class competitor on your hands.

How To Support Your Favorite Local Drifting Driver

December 26th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Extreme Sports
Gregg Hall asked:

Drifting or formula D is a sport that has come all the way from Tokyo Japan to the United States to give a new sport to us. Drifting isn't like any other racing sport. You must drive a rear wheel drive car or at least have the front wheel drive disconnected in order to drift. The way that you win is the way you drift around a given course if you complete without crashing and execute nice moves then you have a good chance of placing.

If you are already fans then you probably have a favorite driver and he is probably Japanese. With a wide array of pro drivers you are bound to know and have a favorite one. If you are a fan then you should support drifting and show that you love the sport. Not only is fan support good for the sport but it will help the sport grow.

As it comes time to show love for your drivers you should know what to do. Fan support is important to the growth of the support as a whole. Fan support to someone or a driver shows them that at least someone knows who they are. When someone knows that they have fans out there then it makes them feel good.

A good way to support a driver is to support their gear that they wear or who they are sponsored by. Even though it is very famous already drifting still pretty new, but there are still people out there who don't even know what the sport is about. That is why it can be hard to find drifting clothes or merchandise. You can find anything that you put your mind to just keep looking or supporting and it should happen.

If you have a good product of the sport of drifting then you should advertise it. Maybe others will start to buy it get their own ideas and the sport will grow faster. You could sell the shirts at events so people will wear them and will be seen. This will let the publicity know that it is booming and they will start showing more and more events causing the drivers to do more and more contests making more and more money causing more and more merchandise. It all goes in after one another, like a domino effect.

So don't not only support one driver support the sport altogether. Without drifting you wouldn't even be able to watch it. That is the main reason why you should go out and show love for the sport. You can do this by filling out surveys or just going to live events. You can find them in California, Washington, New Jersey, all over.

Now after you know how to give support as a whole go out and show some love for drifting and all the people doing it. Its a lot harder to control a car that you have control of but try controlling a car that is out of control that is what drifting is.

The Important Aspect of Paintball Gear

December 7th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Extreme Sports
paintballguns asked:

An important and necessary part of paintball is the gear.  Paintball gear is mandatory for play and is meant to offer protection for the players.  Safety is always a concern with paintball, so having the right gear is essential.

Paintball gear can be found at sporting stores and some paintball facilities also sell or rent gear.  In general a person is going to spend a minimum of $100 for the gear they need.  Cheap paintball gear can be gotten by buying second hand or renting if the player does not play too often.  The gear every player must have includes a mask, gun and paintballs.  There are a wide variety of choices in gear, though.  Form tactical paintball gear to gear designed to improve the game or just to look good.

When a person is serious about playing paintball they will likely buy their paintball gear.  It can be helpful in addition to buy a paintball gear bag.  They may also consider branching out form typical or beginner gear to things like dye paintball gear or sniper paintball gear.

Paintball gear is usually bought for protection.  In additional to a paintball mask a player may want such protective paintball gear as paintball gloves and a paintball vest.  These things can really add extra protection and make the game play more comfortable.

Paintball gear is something that every player must look into before playing.  The choices in gear can be overwhelming and can get expensive.  A player may choose to start out with the basics and build form there to save on cost.

A Brief Look At The Sport Of Skiing And A Few Tips

December 6th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Extreme Sports
Gregg Hall asked:

Skiing is a sport where you strap skis on your feet that are either made out of wood or fiberglass and you just strap them on your feet and then you start skiing even though I know nothing of skiing you still strap the skis on your feet and you have these stick things that push you forwards to help you guide yourself a little better.

There were many different people that developed many different ways of skiing but that isn't important at the moment what is important is how skiing works and is it a good sport that everyone should try to do? Well no I don't think that it is a good sport because it is cold and I am sure that it hurts when you fall on packed ice. Unless you have never been on ice then you don't know what it is like then do you. Packed ice is like falling on concrete except it will leave strawberries that are rashes on the skin from the skin getting to cold if you do not have protection over the skin where you fell.

There are not only many versions of skiing but there are also many contests that are held for skiing like the X-games and others as well. If you are someone who wants to get involved in skiing then you need to get yourself a pair of skis and start trying to ski.

People who are visiting to skiing do not know what all they have to wear so when they go to the ski lodge they are in for a surprise. You have to wear so much clothing when you go skiing so that you do not get cold and get sick. You should at least have snow pants on and a snow jacket so that you do not get wet from the melting snow on your clothes. If you were to get cold then you would get sick then you wouldn't be able to ski because you wouldn't be all sick.

Skiing outside the boundaries is called just what I just said skiing out of bounds and it is not allowed at a lot of resorts because of avalanche possibilities and other things as well. You do not want to get hurt skiing because if you were to break a bone and you were in the back country all by yourself you would probably die because you wouldn't be able to move and you would just get cold and sick.

Even though it takes quite a while to master skiing once you have learned how to ski then you are off to a good start. After you have learned then you can take trips and go other places and learn new things. If you never learn how to ski them you will never be able to go anywhere else because you didn't learn how to ski the first time that you went. If you know how to surf or skateboard then the snow sports are going to be nothing for you.

Why Are Sportsmen So Well Paid?

December 5th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Extreme Sports
Jonathon Hardcastle asked:

As a kid, most of us will have dreamed about scoring a touchdown, or landing that crucial dunk. We'll have imagined hitting the home run to win the game, or thought about scoring the penalty to win the league. We'll also probably have thought about the vast amounts of money, supermodel girlfriends and massive houses, right? These things all go together with being a top flight sportsman in modern times.

It sounds like the dream job, and to an extent it's easy to see why: playing a sport you love all day and being paid through the nose for your efforts. Take the example of soccer star David Beckham and his recent move to MLS - in excess of $200 million over 5 years, which isn't bad. That works out at a total of 17 full days on the soccer pitch over 5 years for all that money. Not bad going, huh? But why is this the case? Why should these sportsmen receive so much for doing their job?

The fact of the matter is that $200 million could build several brand new hospitals and schools, and could go some way towards social security. It's not a lot in national scale terms, but it's a lot for one man to be earning for kicking a ball around a park. The money used to pay these sportsmen comes from a variety of sources. Sports clubs take in primarily gate receipts from spectators in addition to the sale of snacks and merchandise at each event. In addition to that, they secure massive sponsorship deals and additionally strike up contract with TV channels to broadcast their progress. As if this wasn't enough, they also trade sportsmen's contracts for millions, and receive financial rewards along the way for winning competitions.

At the end of the day, sport is a business and players are its assets. Without sportsmen, teams could not play, and thus the value paid to sportsmen for their services is no surprise. Additionally, the fact that each sportsman generates large revenues through their own merchandising for the club or team makes them an invaluable investment for any organisation.

Furthermore top skills are always in demand, and like anything you have to pay for quality. Although it might seem unjust, the large scale operations of the major sport industry is testament to traditional market economics in our society.

Nascar Fan Factor Up Close And Personal

December 1st, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Extreme Sports
Kristi Ambrose asked:

There is no doubt that Nascar is one of the strongest brands ever in America's sporting chronicle. But what makes Nascar to be such a hot brand? Who is behind the success of Nascar? Well, the winnows of Nascar, who else?!? Nascar sports fans are the most faithful devotees in the world. You will never see the fans of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. drink any other beer other than Bud. This is because Dale is the brand name ambassador for Budweiser. Jeff Gordon is affiliated with Dupont paint, and most Jeff Gordon fans never use any other paint.

The brand name commitment of the sports fans is then cashed in by the sponsors. A survey divulged that in order to have their name and logotype on the lid of a top Nascar Nextel cup car, a person and or corporation has to pay $1.5 million! Now that is big money. The drivers are the main factor behind the success of the Nascar cars. The drama associated with the sport and the adrenaline rush cannot be compared to that of any other sport.

Loyalty To The Drivers

If a Nascar Nextel cup driver suddenly advertises Pepsi before the race, then the sales of Pepsi during that race will be incomparable. All the fans of that driver will simply quit using any other soft drink and start using Pepsi. Similarly, if a driver connects himself with a particular brand of shopping store like, say, Home Depot then all the fans will shop at Home Depot.

Role Of The Media

The media, too, will encounter a big role in promoting some of the stuff. For example, if Bill Elliot is seen eating at a specific restaurant and the photo hits newspaper headlines, the coming week, all of his devotees will eat in the same eatery. During the race, the fan following hits a new level altogether!

Individuals come from far-off distances to watch the races and then the sales of accessories and branded stuff hits the roof. Drivers like Jeff Gordon who are associated with car dealerships are also cashing in on the popularity. The sales of the cars have inflated dramatically after these drivers linked themselves with the car companies.

Automotive Productions

Automotive products, too, have established a market like never before, thanks to the growing popularity of Nascar drivers and their ever increasing fan following. If a particular Nascar driver uses a specific brand of paint on their car, then that paint has to be used by all his fans as well. The most common instance is that of the headlamp restoration product used by most Nascar drivers. The product which restores the condition of the headlamp to as good as new is exceedingly popular and is now used by many Nascar fans across the world as well.
