The Bowl Championship Series Games

Or should I call it the Bull Crap Series Games. I'm not sure I am in favor of a playoff, but the current system sucks. Presidents and other head turkeys have to drop the conference alliances and champion tie-ins. Teams like Texas Tech who have one bad game gets the Cotton Bowl as a reward for a 11-1 season. It's just a joke and popularity contest and who donates the most money.

That works out to about $570,000 per start, $1.39 million per win, or $95,160 per inning, although insurance paid portions of his salary while he was on the disabled list.

Hampton made $78.5 million during that six-year stretch, the rest paid by the Colorado Rockies and Florida Marlins as part of the three-team trade that brought him to Atlanta in November 2002.

He signed a then-record eight-year, $121 million contract with Colorado before the 2001 season, and was traded after two disappointing seasons.

After going 63-31 with a 3.30 ERA in 133 starts over the four seasons before he signed the huge contract, Hampton went 56-52 with a 4.81 ERA in 147 starts during the eight-year deal.

Braves are desperate for starting pitching, but he rejects their higher offer to be closer to home. If someone had paid me 50 million dollars and I was hurt the whole time, I would feel obligated to that team.

My beloved Bulldogs went down in flames yesterday to our arch rival GA tech. It had been a nice holiday up until then. If we have to let them win one every 8 years, I guess I can live with that. Their new coach Paul Johnson is a gambler and I love his coaching style. His triple option attack racked up over 400 yards on the ground. The Bulldogs dominated the first half, but we had to play another one. That had been the story witht his team all year. It happened in the Alabama and Florida game as well. To say the least, this has been a very disappointing season. I guess there is always next year.

As for Texas, it is tied with Oklahoma and Texas Tech atop the Big 12 South Division standings. The mentality of the sports fan is often such that they will experience a game, or event while living vicariously through players or teams whom the fan favors. This behavior manifests itself in a number of different ways, depending on the venue. At a stadium or arena, sports fans will voice their pleasure with a particular play, player, or team by cheering, which consists of clapping, fist-pumping, or shouting positive exclamations toward the field of play and ultimately, the favorable object. Likewise, displeasure toward a particular play, player, or team is met by fans with jeers, which consist of booing, the shouting of expletives, and in occasional, extreme cases, the throwing of bottles or even garbage cans onto the field of play in the hopes of injuring a particular participant. This violent type of fan reaction is called hooliganism, an activity which is especially associated with football (soccer), where it is called football hooliganism. Hooligans form clubs to fight with or attack the fans of the opposing team, and their brawls have led to injuries from thrown objects, stabbings, and beatings, and even to deaths.
