her dismount looked very graceful. that reminds me of svetlana boginskaya’s dismount in the 1988 Olympics, they’ve got a very similar pose, just like an angel.

I really like her style on bars. Every skill has good swing, and her routine flows really well.
I remember in the original ESPN broadcast they showed Fan Di’s routine along with a few others. Christy Henrich’s routine was shown then she was followed by Silivas.
Audie-don’t respond to people who attack you. It’s not worth it. Just ignore them. You have a right to your opinions-just as everyone here has been voicing them. Anyone who takes someones opinion on an event that occurred 20 years ago so very personally and gets so angry that they resort to hurling insults at them in really needs to do some deep soul-searching. I am sure Fan Di and Daniela Silivas are very happy with what medals they won-and have gone on with their lives.
You should not take people’s remarks so personally. It’s childish to attack another user hurling insults at them just because you don’t like what they say-your doing so only makes you seem hypocritical and very rude also. Your attack against audie really was uncalled for.
Hardly worthy of a 10.00??? True the judges gave out too many 10.00′s in the day but this was spectacular routine with no major mistakes. You say ‘hardly’ as if Fan Di bombed all over the place.

She went up before. Watch Silivas’s routine and after she dismounts you can see Fan Di waiting to see what her score is. She then goes up to Silivas and congratulates her (or they congratulate each other since they both tied for gold) with a kiss.

I don’t think that people taking the word “hippo” to mean fat is unjustified. You don’t really have the right to be annoyed by their interpretation of a word that you simultaneously acknowledge to be out of line. You’re right American gymnasts are usually heavier, but they’re also taller, and it does average out. Besides, you’re really only considering the big gymnastics powers, such as the US, China, and the former Soviet nations–who, to note, have gymnasts comparable in size to the US.
Perhaps Hippo wasnt the best choice of words, but it annoys me that people think you mean ‘fat’ when you point out that American gymnasts have traditionally been the biggest gymnasts. It does not mean fat, but they are indeed heavier then the other nations consistently. AGAIN – THIS DOES NOT MEAN FAT OR UNFIT OR GROSS, IT SIMPLY MEANS NOT AS TINY AS OTHERS.
I like her bars better than Silivas’ but her dismount isnt as cool
