Michael Jordan 2002: NBA Record 51 pts at age 38

LEARN TO SCORE LIKE MJ: cli.gs At age 38 and 315 days, MJ shattered the record for the oldest player to score 50+. The game prior had MJ scoring just 6 due to injury which stopped his NBA-record double-figures scoring streak at 866 games. MJ came out to make up for that here. It should be mentioned that MJ's injury limited him to just 2 full-game scrimmages the entire year in practice. One must wonder, without the injury, what might have been possible at ages 38-40? Zone was allowed starting that year with hand-checking tighter than today as one-legged, twilight MJ broke a few records that day.

i wonder wut those younger players had to say about a 38 year old, after 3 year hiatus, pwning their asses without a sweat
Everytime i see these GOAT videos i have to imagine that MJ ought to be in the guiness world record book for the biggest hands. He makes the basketball look like a baseball in his hand. Its seriously a wicked nice advantage over most players, especially for dunking, catching, stealing, and dribbling.
what did someone do or say to MJ before this game for him to destroy the Hornets single handedly like that lol
mj is the greatest
@ironlemmy
I think its two….I’m not 100% sure though.
I was at this game,,,,,still got the ticket stub,,,,,Trying to get mike to sign it down in charlotte,,,
@MrCJK22
what’s 1 + 1?
@TerrorTown7575 Well how about being half way intelligent if you can and telling me what the hell I dont know about. I love these people, they think they know shit but dont say shit…except oh you dont know shit, get a life…and notice it even has this goodbye feel to it, trying to get the last work. yea right lol Todays big men are absolutely bigger, stronger and more athletic than the players of old were. Case in point…theres no way Wilt Chamberlain could score 100 points in todays game.
@FightingForFreedom23 Shorty, You dont know what your talking about . You need to find something to do.
@TerrorTown7575 I do know basketball. Read back the comments, Ive listed my accomplishments already. And oh yea I suppose Dave Corzine, Robert Parish, and Mark Eaton qualify as big time centers lol No you fool. Shaq, Dwight Howard, and Yao Ming qualify as true big time centers. Just wtv another fool talking as if he knows what hes talking about but doesnt know what hes talking about…thats you.
@FightingForFreedom23 there are no big time centers today any one can drive and dominate in mikes time there was about five.
@FightingForFreedom23 u dont know basketball. you probaly a shortie’s talking flagrant.
@blackadam06
Go ahead and check out his link peeps. Its bogus. It only accounts for the average height of nba all stars and not every player in the entire league. Please don’t spread any more lies blackadam. Thanks
“wheres this file?”
google . com/search?q=The+tallest+era+in+NBA+history&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Rnw&sa=X&tbo=p&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=s&tbs=tl:1,tll:1986,tlh:1986&ei=oL_pS9WsHIK78gbHnrTlDg&oi=toolbelt_timeline_result&resnum=1&ct=timeline-date&ved=0CDgQzQEwAA
remove the space..
That’s just 1 of the MANY files one can access, in order to crunch the #’s on this subject. Go do some damn homework & STOP being so goddamn lazy!
@blackadam06
on file? wheres this file. Show me proof. I dont care if every team has a 7 footer because every team has a 6 footer too. Pretty sure that doesn’t average out to 6-10. Again people, don’t believe this guys’ bogus made up numbers.
Oh yeah?
Then go take a look at what era is deemed the TALLEST on file & see which era had MORE 7+ footers to give U that. I don’t have to make up shit dumb ass..I leave that to U ignorant ass kobe homers..
@blackadam06
If anyone believes this guy they are out of their mind. The NBA has never had a period where the average player was almost 6-10 as blackadam says happened from 1986-90.
u cant even compare MJ ot lebron.. lebron has a long way to go to even be comparable to jordan.
@denzel06 @FightingForFreedom23 is on this video talking all kinds of shit bout how LeBron is better, but he has a comment on MJ hall of fame speech video sayin MJ is the greatest of all time…Michael Jordan Basketball Hall Of Fame Speech (1/3) … go check it out if you dont believe me… make up your mind man is he the best or not?
man i dont even know why ya’ll are arguing with @FightingForFreedom23 he is clearly an idiot when it comes too his basketball knowledge and theory
“Today’s players are much bigger and more athletic”
Year—–Avg hgt—-Avg wgt
1986-90–6-9.72—–227.46
1992-00–6-7.20—–216.67
2003-10–6-5.48—–210.00
Sorry dumb ass, but no x-men type mutation in athleticism took place in the year ’00, causing players to become super athletic. They just “rely” on it more today because they LACK the requisite skills & fundamental training of their 90′s predecessors.
For every athletic freak today, I can name 2 from the 90′s that can MATCH ‘em..
“stats don’t mean anything”
More of the same old ignorant nonsense from U it appears.
Hey dumb ass, I think shaq’s a better FT shooter than kobe & MJ’s a much better rebounder than Rodman ever was. U disagree? PROVE ME wrong, and I wanna know HOW you’re gonna do it. So the next time 1 team ends up with more pts at the end of the game than their opponent, I guess it’s safe to say that they DIDN’T win because like U said: “stats don’t mean anything”..
Fuckin’ idiot..
@FightingForFreedom23
even if he went for 1-17,there are times where everybody shoots below their avarage. everybody sometimes turns the ball over and mj got knocked over,he didnt get a foul call everytime they touched him. even if he went for 1-17,he still shot better than lebron. all by your logic,nobody is as great as people say,people like to talk…like to dramatise and exaggrate…but mj is still better than lebron.
@FightingForFreedom23
So in a 1 on 1 game, considering Kobe Bryant is in majority’s opinion “the most fundamentally sound player today”, if he takes on LeBron James in a 1 on 1 game LeBron will always lose no matter what even if he’s more athletically gifted the fundamentals are still the most important but in a team game things will be different though. Considering MJ vs Bron, duh Jordan would win considering he’s much more athletic + more fundamentally sound.
@FightingForFreedom23
Jordan scores more but LeBron takes more shots than him per game. What does that tell you? And yes you’ve got one thing right LeBron is a better passer than Michael but no where near as efficient scorer than MJ. In fact there had been no player more efficient than MJ since in scoring. All scorers you are seeing are shot jacking, volume scoring and not a result of efficiency. I told you, I’ll take a more fundamentally sound player than an athletic player.
